CAKE

stop letting food rule you - eat unbothered, increase strength and energy, and find peace with your body

Women have been told food is complicated
but the answer is simple:
YOUR BODY. YOUR RULES. YOUR GOALS.
We empower you with real nutrition information
evidence-based strategies
and help you to make an
actionable plan.

Then we back you up with NO-BS SUPPORT.
Program starts early January 2025.
LET'S GET YOU BACK IN CONTROL OF YOUR NUTRITION.

"I had been stuck in yo-yo diet cycle.

I knew I had to develop a healthy relationship with food and sustainable habits, but no matter how hard I tried I kept failing.

CAKE has changed my relationship with food.

CAKE allowed me to discover more about what was keeping me stuck and gave me tools to change my habits.

The best part is it does not feel restrictive, shame-y or toxic. Instead it’s empowering, freeing and sustainable" - A.

OUR SOCIETY NEEDS TO COOL IT.

It's obsessed with giving women rules

and telling them what they need to do with their lives and bodies.

When it comes to eating and nutrition,

we were first being constantly bombarded with sets of nonsense rules about WHAT and how much to eat (hello, diets.)

Then came the aha moment

where we started to realize that diets … well, they suck.

And the research is shouting that they don’t work

(yes, despite what your best friend's cousin's aunt is claiming.)

Some/most of them are downright harmful.

Ice Cream_edited.jpg

Cue a tidal wave of new information

(eg increased awareness of body positivity, intuitive eating,

a push for moderation and “balance”,

love yourself messages,

f-the patriarchy, and just say no to diet culture)

a lot of which is important and needed

but let's just say that it has made navigating nutrition

…..um…VERY overwhelming.

You're stuck with alL of these mixed messages

Don’t diet (unless it’s branded as pseudoscience being branded as hEaLtHy)!

Just feel super great and positive in your body!

You know, the body that that we told you for literal decades wasn't good enough.

And, while you're at it,

just intuitively listen to that same body

(the body that you are *surprisingly* now totally out of touch with)

and eat all the foods!

(but not that one! And not like that! Don’t forget to make it all balanced!)

You might be feeling

like you're exasperated,

floundering, and getting increasingly desperados

stuck wanting to end

the out-of-control cycle

you're (still) in with food

feeling shame-y and even more unsure

what to do about nutrition.

Here's the thing:

what you decide to do with your body

(and what you put in to it)

is completely up to YOU.

In order to make the best nutrition decisions for yourself,

you deserve

  • the truth - evidence-based nutrition information (thanks, science!) on what actually works and what doesn't

  • a plan that puts you back in control via practical, customized, realistic strategies and habit-changes

  • to understand and be able to shutdown cravings and sneaky accidental self-sabotage

  • to decide what works for you without pressure

  • non-judgemental support

so that you can reach your goals .

B.S. IN NUTRITION, EXERCISE, AND HEALTH SCIENCES
CERTIFIED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST
PREGNANCY & POSTPARTUM ATHLETICISM COACH

Nutrition is a topic that has been frequently brought up to me by the clients I work with. There is so much overwhelm and anxiety surrounding food and it effects so many factors in my clients lives: their mood, training, lives at home, relationship and comfort with their bodies, energy levels...I could go on.

Folks want to feel better in their lives and bodies and they know this is impacted by their food choices and routines. What they aren't sure about is where they should start, which changes are worthwhile,  or how to ensure changes stick around.

I knew that we needed to create a program that reflected Bolte Fitness values. Our nutrition offering had to be inclusive, empathetic, sustainable, and a continuation of whole-person coaching.

This is that program.

I am confident that CAKE will give you the tools and mindset shifts you need to approach food differently, in a way that respects you as an individual.

Tara Abel

ISSA CERTIFIED NUTRITION COACH
PRE/POSTNATAL FITNESS SPECIALIST
PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM ATHLETICISM COACH

I get a liiiiitle passionate / involved with the things I care about and I have 4 kids, so I tend to have a lot on the go! This why I thrive on systems, shortcuts, and finding creative ways to reach goals. If something isn’t working, I want to find a better way. This is what led me to start coaching in a way that’s a little outside of the norm.

So many folks are overwhelmed when it comes to nutrition and are focused on all the wrong details and ways of thinking. They are making their lives way harder than they have to be. It is also deeply frustrating to see the harmful ways that typical nutrition programs upheld oppressive values. I knew we could create something inclusive and better.

My favourite thing is to take what feels like an overwhelming challenge for someone and help them find a solution. I love showing the folks I work with that they can make small, manageable changes that will add up to make a massive difference in their lives.

And P.S. I actually do bake cakes (I've even made a few wedding cakes) and there is no universe in which I will accept that forever canceling any type of food is a solution.

Your sweet tooth is safe with me!

FOOD DOESN'T NEED

TO RULE YOUR LIFE.

IT'S TIME

TO TAKE BACK YOUR FREEDOM.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT (AND OTHER FAQS)

Upon applying, we will review your application to see if it's a good fit.

If so, you will be sent a payment link and then a Welcome Email that will walk you through getting set up on the Bolte Fitness app so you can start filling out your intake forms.

Inside the email, we've also included the Educational Group Call schedule, instructions on how to book your 1:1 coaching calls (for 1:1 custom upgrade clients), and an overview on the flow of the program.

How does it work?

Every monthly group Zoom call will give you education on a different nutrition foundation. We'll talk about practical ideas for how to make the monthly focus fit more easily into your life. With group coaching, you will get access to the group messaging in the Bolte Fitness app for support from coaches and peers.

For 1:1 custom coaching, you'll book your monthly 1:1 call at a time that works best for you. During that call, you'll chat with your coach about where you're at, what's working well, and where you need support to keep making progress. You'll be able to send your coach a text or voice message through the app any time you have a question or need support.

Your coach will keep you moving forward with tools such as habit tracking, self-evaluations, and the occasional worksheet, all of which will be customized to your unique needs and life.

What do I need to be successful in the program?
  • Access to the Bolte Fitness app, via your phone.

  • Access to Zoom and the internet.

  • ~3 hrs in the first month, as we get things going.

  • ~2 hrs for every subsequent month.

  • A desire to make changes, a willingness to try new things, and openness to changing your mindset.

How long are the calls?
Who will be coaching me?
I'm brand new to nutrition, is this meant for me?
I have specific health concerns. I would like to adjust my nutrition to try to address them.
I am struggling with an eating disorder. Can this program help me?
Will this program help me lose weight?

The group educational call will be 60 minutes long and the 1:1 coaching calls will be 30 minutes long.

Both Anna and Tara are coaching during the Educational Group Calls, with the session being led by Tara. Each member of the Cake crew is assigned their personal coach based off of each member's history, goals, and needs. Great consideration is given as to which coach will be the best fit for each member and this is decided by the coaching team.

Absolutely, you do not need any previous nutrition knowledge to participate. We make nutrition feel accessible for beginners!

This program is not meant to diagnose or treat any specific health or medical concern. Please speak with your doctor.

While many folks in the program have struggled with some sort of disordered eating in the past or would like to improve their relationship with food, this program is not designed to help folks overcome or manage an untreated or unmanaged eating disorder. Please speak with your doctor or visit this website.

This program is has only one goal: to give you a solid understanding of nutrition basics as well as the knowledge you need to make short and long-term behaviour changes. We want you to feel confident you have all the information you need about nutrition and yourself in order to lay the foundation in reaching whatever goal you choose.

We spend time in the program discussing common nutrition misconceptions, debunk myths and misinformation, and explore society's history around bodies and diets.

We do strive to keep things as safe as possible for folks with varying history with food, body image, or eating disorders. We do our best to avoid specific discussions regarding commonly problematic measurements (eg. weight, calories) and our program will shed light on why these tools can be unhelpful.

We respect all goals and choices and aim to provide a supportive space to explore this often difficult topic. That being said, if you have a history of disordered eating, please take care in deciding if some of the topics that may arise in this program ar right for you.

Will you teach me how to count macros or calories or how to stick to a diet?

No. The research shows that the vast majority of folks do not benefit from these measures in the long-term (nor are they necessary to reach most goals). Before one would benefit or ever require these types of measures, a consistent foundation must be laid and sustained. Our focus is on laying that foundation. For example, we teach how to build a balanced plate and how to gauge suggested macro intake (eg. how much protein you should be getting per day and/or per meal) without making it too technical.

We want to make food simple and not one bite harder than it needs to be!
